new blog!

I made a new blog for senior year (mostly so I can try out the new Blogger Beta). From now on I will post there!

You will end up like always, back where you were before

All right, I know I haven't been posting much, but Monday through Friday last week I was ridiculously busy: volleyball, PCC stuff, work, UFU stuff, messing around with my new iPod and MacBook... hehe.

School starts in 2 days. I guess that's all right. I must remember to get all of my homework done before the weekend; I have a lot of stuff I want to do on Saturday. For one thing, that's the day of the very important UFU garage sale (I might just help set up from 7-9 or something). I guess we didn't make much money from the dance--we might not have even broke even--so we need to make up for it.

There's not really much going on today, but I'm sure once school starts I'll have a lot to post about (during my non-existant free time...).

Laptop! iPod! And I haven't opened that printer yet...

I'm so busy tomorrow, it's crazy...

I'll have to listen to nothing but indie for a week straight to make up for this

Guys! James Blunt is at the Assembly Hall on October 21! I want to go! It's $28 for students. Who'll come with me? <_<

Okay, back to PCC stuff...

Two Uni dances in less than a week? I vote that everyone go to the (probably subbie-free) UFU dance and skip the Howdy Hop.

I've been working on the UFU website. Making a black/yellow/gray/red layout is hard, but I think this works. Any comments? (I was told to use those scrollbars, by the way; I don't really like them...)

So yesterday I ordered a MacBook (white, 1.83GHz, 1 GB RAM, 60 GB harddrive) and one of those U2 video iPods! It's going to be so excellent!

Well. This week should be interesting...

Somehow I still find the time to blog sometimes

Hey Marquis, Quad Day is the day before school starts (August 22). It's on the calendar.

So here's an amusing quote that I was going to post two days ago, but then my Internet died:
Bob Dylan’s MySpace page raises many questions. Does Bob know it exists? Does Bob even use the Internet? Are Journey and Living Colour really his friends? Whatever the case, it’s a blessing to view such messages to him as “Hey man I dought [sic] you ever read this but what the hell thanks for the add” and “The events of September 11th do not add up….Something very fowl is afoot.”

--from Rolling Stone's Rock and Roll Daily blog, possibly the best blog ever.

So I've been working on a Linux (SUSE) machine for the past two days. I suppose I am adapting to it. It definitely has some advantages over other operating systems, but I think I still like OS X the best. :)

Another thing I've been doing is command line sftp and ssh. It's pretty cool!

More good stuff!

My schedule is all fixed! It is officially:
  1. Free
  2. P.E./Poetry
  3. Free
  4. Calc II/III
  5. Orch/Chor
  6. Physics B/C
  7. Japanese III
  8. Shakespeare/P.E.

Plus I'm doing an Independent Study to learn Java! I get to make up my own curriculum. It'll be so excellent.

Besides all that stuff, my job is also going really well today. I met with the grad student dude today and he's doing a large amount of the database work that I was worried about. He's also teaching me how I'm supposed to write the MySQL queries, and the rest of it is just dealing with HTML forms (something I already know how to do). All right, time to get back to working...

as if we weren't already

Noam and I have a new AIM sn: a123awesome. Now you will be able to address us as one entity!

People are crazy and times are strange, I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range, I used to care, but things have changed

I started some work on college apps and essays today. I'm also about halfway through reading through the concept part of my Physics SAT II book (as opposed to the practice test section; I haven't done any practice questions at all) and a fourth of the way through the summer reading book. That might almost sound kind of impressive, except I only have a week to finish all of that! Aah! (Look at my Google calendar if you don't believe me.)

Meanwhile, I anxiously await an e-mail response from Ms. Kovacs about my schedule. Maybe I'll have to try to go find her again...

Refreshingly Indie

Life At Sea. I've known about this group for awhile, but now they have a new website that doesn't have a bunch of songs on it anymore. :( Luckily, they've got some good stuff on their Myspace.

Menagerie. I found them while searching for Helter Skelter (they covered it). You can hear that and some other nice, live jams here. Unfortunately, I think they might be breaking up...

Explosions In The Sky. A good post rock band; a bit more mellow than Mogwai. If you look around you can find a few songs on their website, but it's easier just to go to their Myspace.

Now isn't that such a nice, relaxing break from the world of commercial pop?

So I had my entire evening planned out: Take a half hour nap, eat dinner, study Physics, call all the PCCs to tell them that the schedule had changed, write in my journal, watch the Daily Show and the Colbert Report, watch a little ATHF, and then do some talking on the phone.

The half hour nap turned into a NINE HOUR NAP. From which NONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS WOKE ME UP. So instead of doing all that stuff I had planned, I had dreams about popcorn and missed the BEST THIRD OF THE DAY.

And to make matters worse, the storm knocked out the phone lines or something. What is the deal. I guess they work now, but that doesn't help much.

Well, I guess I can still write in my journal and watch ATHF... no point in going back to sleep.

Well, tomorrow will be better.

Noam, you don't suck.

I am confident enough about saying that statement that I will write it in my blog, where the whole world can read it. (Or at least three or four of my friends. Sigh. Someday I'm going to acheive Internet Fame; I swear.) Seriously though!

Anyway, everyone: I saw A Scanner Darkly today. It was a good movie. I wish it had been longer, though, but maybe I just feel that way because I've been reading the book. Books... take a lot longer. :P

I also bought a Physics SAT II book and checked out Megatokyo 3, a Postal Service album, and the second ATHF DVD from the library. Excellent.

I wish everything were all right...

sorry but you can't trust me

Spencer and Ariana are probably two of the coolest people ever. Too bad they don't read this blog so they won't know.

Noam's party was interesting.

I'll write more tomorrow; I haven't been keeping up with this blog.

oh man, "one" starts the same way

Ooh I'm so getting the Collector's Edition of this CD. It will look very nice next to my already-falling-apart Special Edition In Time. *grins*

My food schedule appears to still be all messed up. I took a nap when I got home today and now I still don't feel like eating dinner...
